The season has arrived. Join us on Wednesday's, August 13th, and August 27th, and travel to the Naugatuck Town Green for their weekly Farmer's Market. Meet at the Senior Center at 12:30pm to leave. Please sign up ahead of time as space is limited on the mini bus.
This course covers defensive driving techniques, refresher in laws and regulations, tips to sharpen driver skills, and how to deal with aggressive drivers. The class will be held at the Senior Center on August 6 and August 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The cost is $10. Drivers 62+ save at least 5% on Auto Liability insurance. No physical, written or on the road driving tests. Call the Senior Center to register. Seats are limited.
Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Bunco is played using three dice in multiple groups of four people each. Each game is made up of several sets of six rounds. Players score points when the number shown on any die is the same number as that round.
FREE and open to all Prospect Seniors and those seniors that are members of our Senior Center. Please sign up at the Center. It will be held Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Prospect VFW, beginning at 12 noon.
Join us on Tuesday August 26, 2008 to head to Ellsworth Hill Orachard and Berry Farm to pick raspberries. Leave the Senior Center at 8:30 am and head to Sharon, CT. After picking raspberries and looking around the farm, you will head to Acadia's Restaurant. Return back to the Senior Center between 1:30 and 2:00 pm. Sign ups are necessary.
FREE Bus Dial-A-Ride Transportation is available for Seniors. The program allows disabled residents and senior citizens age 60 and over the opportunity to go shopping , make medical appointments and visit other locations within the region's coverage area in Cheshire, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Prospect, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, and Wolcott. The program is on a first come first serve basis. For more information, contact the Prospect Senior Center at 758-5300.
Common wheelchairs and certain scooters can be brought along on the bus, as well as personal care attendants accompanying eligible participants. Residents do not have to be a member of the Prospect Senior Center to apply, and the service is also available for non-senior residents who are disabled.
